Remember when you were little and you thought anything was possible? The cool creature you drew had a jetpack that allowed you to fly or the story you wrote that made you believe you could ride a unicorn in a magical fairy garden? 🧚
What happened to the 4, 5, or 6 year old you? Where did she go? The innocence of childhood is so precious and wonderful. Unfortunately, we are not capable of truly appreciating this carefree stage in our lives at the time and often find ourselves reminiscing about the good old days as we get older.
We tend to think creativity is silly, that it's only for kids, and that we are not good at it. The only thing that is stopping us is that inner voice saying, "That is not great....someone else can do this much better." You start to compare yourself to others and then you just give up altogether. Sound familiar? 😀
The cool thing is that creativity has no rules but we put limitations on it and think it has to fit perfectly in line with what other people are doing. We fear being judged. We fear rejection. We fear it not being good enough and so on.
The subconscious patterns that have been playing on repeat for years have kept you from fully expressing your true purpose. Your analytical mind often interferes, limiting your ability to create and share your unique gifts with the world.
Society has conditioned us to believe that adulthood means taking on serious responsibilities, leaving little room for creativity or imagination, which are often seen as 'childish.' We've been led to think that our worth is tied to how productive we are. This mindset encourages us to pursue stable jobs with salaries and benefits, all in the name of simply surviving
Unfortunately, that is the fear-based lie many of us bought into. We have the capacity within us to use our creativity to support ourselves. We are actually seasonal beings who should be nurturing, planting, and cultivating what we want to create in our lives…not reacting out of fear and following what everyone else is doing around us.
INNER PEACE is the new success. We are distracted and our creativity is hiding behind all of this static. Life happens and over time our inner child slowly fades away.😞 We are accustomed to paying bills, going to work at a job we may or may not love, and over extend ourselves to exhaustion that even if we wanted to be creative, we just have no energy for it. 😴
Your creativity is actually what your Soul wants to share with the world.✨ It connects your inner world with your outer world. God gave every single person the gift of creativity and the assignment to uncover it during our human experience.
You may wonder how you can even start to dust off your creative inner child and reveal what has been in you all along.
Think about what you LOVED to do as a kid...what really lit you up? Now spend 15 minutes each day doing that. Over time, new portals of interest will spark new ideas and it will snowball from there.
An easy one to start off with is coloring. Get some markers, colored pencils & crayons and put on some fun music. Your mind will go to a calming place where the to-do lists will have to wait. Letting go of control and just allowing yourself to sit still and connect to your inner child is life changing. You will feel a sense of connection to your 4, 5, or 6 year old self.
Creativity has so many facets to it. It amazes me how yarn can turn into a gorgeous scarf or how beads/jewels can make the most magnificent bracelet. Some people are fantastic bakers while others can design clothes, create music and paint murals that leave you in awe. One is not better than the other. There is room for all of us to be our own creators.
I can't tell you how many times I have heard adults say, "I can't draw." It is not that they can't, it's because they have this limiting belief inside of them that says, "well if it doesn't look like a professional piece of art, then mine does not make the cut." They put down their work before anyone else has the chance to even see it...the fear of criticism is too much. This breaks my heart because there are literally no rules. We each have a unique expression and viewpoint which is amazing!
Being aware of how we talk to ourselves is so important. So when you make the conscious choice to jump back onto the creativity bus, please do me a favor....be kind to yourself.
When you hear that negative thought come up, tell it that it’s no longer welcome and keep going just like you would encourage your own child to do so.
Don't give up on yourself...you are never too old to find your passion and create. It’s essential to set aside time to explore this special side of you. It is a muscle that has not been used in a long time and it will take some time to strengthen it. Most importantly, HAVE FUN with it. Having fun attracts ease and joy. 💫
Wishing you a creative week ahead! Make sure to tell your inner child welcome back. ❤️
